CFP15(h) Strategy

The CFP15(h) strategy strives to achieve an above average rate of return over a full market cycle while focusing on achieving a superior risk/reward ratio. In addition, our objective is to fall no further, or faster, in a bear market than the corresponding market given a 12 to 18-month cycle.

The strategy consists of two sub-strategies and two hedge strategies. The two sub-strategies represents 50% each and is invested in a total of 15 stocks and mutual funds, when neither of the hedge strategies are employed. The hedge strategies are employed through ETFs.

The first sub-strategy invests primarily in individual stocks focusing predominately on large cap with an even split between under-valued blue-chip stocks, and proven moderate growth stocks/mutual funds which have complemented each other long-term.

The second sub-strategy focuses on creating a multi-dimensional diversified portfolio with 50% in large cap, 20% in mid cap, 10% in small cap, and 20% in International. The strategy is further diversified with 30% in growth, 30% in blend, and 40% in value.

The two hedge strategies focus on protecting the overall strategy in volatile times, although it is not a perfect hedge, and uses technical analysis to determine the overall direction of the market. It is not intended to pinpoint the tops, but to be implemented in a bear market, or if possible an impending bear market.

The strategy is not utilizing direct leverage and is normally long only, however, when the two hedges are in effect the strategy will in effect be 70% long and 60% short.

The strategy is thus seeking to find relatively stable capital growth in 'good' times and capital preservation in 'bad' times, and appeals to investors seeking a disciplined approach in the quest for a risk-adjusted capital appreciation.

The strategy is monitored regularly and adjusted yearly. The recommended minimum for the CFP15(h) Strategy is $250,000.
